This was one of the first assignments I had in my drawing class last year. I first sketched out all of the shapes and then used black and white charcoal pencils to achieve the shadows and highlights. I was able to achieve the effect of a fairly realistic ribbon. It was very effective to use colored paper with black and white charcoal to create three dimensional shapes. Charcoal isn't one of my favorite mediums but I think this turned out pretty well.
